Tuesday tidbits...

"A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life." Muhammad Ali

Being 51 definitely has its advantages...like knowing that life happens, yet things usually work out somehow. But, these days, I've been really tired...I went to bed at 9pm last night and got up at 8am this morning, that's 11 hours. Yes, I've been relatively busy, but nothing I usually can't handle. That's the other side of being 51...hormones get a little wacky. Naps are a must...but, so is exercise :)

I saw Joseph, my PT, again yesterday and he gave my foot a good "painful massage" and then had me run at my regular speed on the treadmill. I was allowed to do 10 X 1 min. walk/1 min. run...and it went great! Wootwoot! I was back out there today and did 11 x 1/1 intervals...and by the time I see Joseph again on Friday, I am to have completed 15 X 1/1 intervals...and then "we'll see" he said, after I asked him if he thought I could at least do the 10K in Niagara Falls in 3 weeks. So, "we'll see"...but, today was a success. The pain is minimal and according to Joseph, it's always better to keep the muscles working...I like his method.

So, after my 22 minutes of "run/walking", I went for a 10K bike ride and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine...lovely morning, now time to get ready for work.

Congrats to everyone who raced over the weekend!
Cheers!

Glad you had a successful day.

Yes, how is it that the PT hurts more than the injury?

I love the painful ones! Oh, signs of healing. Good for you that you are getting your run back!

Your PT sounds like it is going great and getting you right back on track. Nice that the verdict is to "work through" the injury rather than having to stay completely off it.

Pain - I guess, can sometimes be good. ;)

AND

awesome quote.

I found a new rmt not too long ago and the first time he worked on me I thought "is he trying to KILL me?!" That's when I knew he was the one.

great news with the running and good luck at the Falls. The Ali quote is good!

(I initially read the post because I thought it said Tuesday's Timbits ... but I read on - I'm a trooper!)

All your recent bike time will help keep you in shape for when you get to return to running full time.

Love that sentence - 'like knowing that life happens, yet things usually work out somehow' It's so true.

Good job with the running! It was a great day for a bike ride too. I have ridden to work two days in a row now.

Well hello sweet Anne!

I'm so happy you are feeling better and able to run again! I can see how much it means to you :)

I re-read your first blog, your healthy choices and the latest article.... I have done workout #2 today, and can't stop thinking about the April 10k.... You are a role model and who I'll be looking to for hope when I'm SERIOUSLY questionning if I can do this.... So far it's not bad but I wonder if my body will follow my mind... But I intend to give it my all. This w-e you gave me the motivation I was lacking to be consistent in my exercise. THANK YOU soooo much! ;) You Rock! xo

See, I feel like I've told you before that these blog posts are like rain drops of wisdom and they should be compiled somewhere.

Hopefully soon, this foot pain will be a distant memory!

Have a great day, Anne!

Crossing fingers for good news on the 5K! Don't you hate how painful PT is?? Hoping it does all the magic!! I think I'd give my right leg to sleep 11 hours. Ok, not the leg, I need that to run...how about my right arm? ;) You must be needing it so soak it up!

I have a not of those "need lots 'o sleep" nights, too. And I'm happy to blame it on hormones!!

Glad you are healing! Enjoy the sunshine.

That's great! We'll see is better than no way. Glad you are healing. The bike is a great way to get in a workout while healing.

Yay for successful PT sessions:) I am so excited that you might be able to do the 10K in Niagara Falls!! Awesome news!

That sounds good! I’m sure you’ll be able to do the 10km, but you’ll need to behave and take it easy…!

I know you always post eloquent quotes, but I don't think you're gonna be that one. Perfect.

I haven't been to Niagra Falls for nearly 10 years. I'm gonna have to check out the race scene and see if we can't schedule a trip around one, which basically means I think you should do that 10K because it must be beautiful.

Keep up the hard work and the PT sessions; it will pay off! I love your quotes; they make me smile, pause to think or ponder and reflect - I really look forward to them.
