Another blip...but, I'm ready

"Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards."
Vernon Sanders Law

Just as I was feeling no more foot or knee pain...just as I was letting the idea of the half-marathon float around in the back of my mind...another blip! Last week I ended up with a cold all week and basically spent Tuesday and Wednesday either sleeping or working. Not running. Okay. So, I was back to wondering if I'd even be able to complete the 10K.

Today, I figured I'd try and run 10K in order to test where I'm at...and although the lungs are not 100%, they're getting better (without prednisone...yay!) and I did it. I took very short walk breaks almost every Km, but overall, my pace was at 10:38 min/mile, which I'm feeling good about. Most important, no pain! So I'm ready for the 10K in Niagara Falls next Sunday...and I'm excited to be there to support Uber H who will be running his first marathon! I can't wait to be there for him, taking pictures and encouraging him with a cool poster :)

Cheers!

I love Tarma Designs. Yay!

At least this set back was not an injury! Although, I hate when I have a cold and cannot run. I am excited your 10K and uber hubby's first marathon! YAY!

It's like you've got a leprechaun in your pocket (the Irish kind, not the one from Alabama). I get emails every few weeks to support Lupus, I might do an Open Water Swim (OWS) for them next year.
You mentioned prednisone, being that you avoided it during your sickness, 44 days! on your counter and I really like that graphic in your sidebar.
You and UberH are also way too lucky to have that Niagra Falls race coming up. If it wasn't like 7 hours away, I'd love to be there, it's so beautiful.

Anne,
Congrats on the prizes and the successful week! Everything seems to feel "right" when your body isn't hurting.

I'm very interested in your history with prednisone. I had used Synthroid for several weeks after they diagnosed me with hypo-thyroid, but I hated the way that it made me feel and so I told my doctor that I was going to stop using it. I have and felt about the same before starting the medication, but still not great.

Hope you've had a great weekend!

Definitely a good sign to win 2 contests! Glad that you're on the mend and no prednisolone! That is a big YAY! That necklace is darling! The 10K will be great! :)

I'd say the prizes helped compensate for the coughing and wheezing. Do take care not to push it, and have a great time in Niagra Falls. Such a lovely setting for a race.

I love that necklace!

Sometimes a little blip isn't so bad. It made you rest. :) I hope you continue to feel better.

Sorry I haven't commented recently, but I'm playing catch-up this week.

I think that will be my costume! I'm not sure if a perm the day before a race will slow me down or speed me up. Any advice?

Have a great one!
