I thought it would be hard...it was easy (or vice versa)

"If we all worked on the assumption that what is accepted as true is really true, there would be little hope of advance.

Tuesday, I felt good about starting a new program. The plan was a nice short 4K. I assumed it would go well...that it would be easy. NOT. I was so tired after just 2K, that I was feeling a bit queasy and stopped after a mere 3K. Okay.

Thursday, I felt tired and I had a glass of wine at lunch, it was raining and chilly. So, the idea of getting out there and doing another 4K didn't thrill me. I assumed it wouldn't go well...that it would be hard. NOT. I floated through this run, I felt great and completed 5.2K without any fatigue.

I guess assumptions cannot be made about how our run will go :)

Cheers!

My assumption is I should always have a drink at lunch prior to a 4K run!

just goes to show, you never know how a run will be until you get out there and do it!

That happens so often to me! I go out there for an easy run, and then it's like a death march. I go out there, dragging my feet at the thought and thinking there's no way I can run at the pace I'm supposed to, and I do.

But a glass of wine first...why didn't I think of that?

So a glass of wine at lunch is the secret to a good run... good to know! :)

And even sometimes when you're out there and it sucks, if you keep at it long enough it'll stop sucking! Have a great weekend!

Mental mind set makes so much difference. If I go in over confident feeling like things will be a snap, I feel awful. If I think I'm tired, cranky and out of shape, things go way more smoothly than I anticipate. I figure as long as you just keep going it's all good... even better with wine!!

Yay! Happy the second run was better. Isn't it weird how we can never 100% know how it will turn out?

You never know! Great job getting out there!

It's funny how that works - no rhyme or reason, just bad one day and good the next.

nope, we never know. maybe that element of surprise keeps us heading out the door

Glad you are out there running!

I'm with Jamoosh if drinking at lunch is the way to successfully "float through a run" --- that's awesome!!

Happy Friday!!

I love those sort of runs! They make you feel so good don't they :-)

I think you've just summed up why we actually get out there and run, as nice as it is to just write about running.

I'm printing out that quote.
And, great pic.

Have a fun weekend!

Found your blog thru Barefoot Neil's & had to check yours out. I developed asthma in my early 30s & get so frustrated with it. Having to carry an inhaler tucked in my sports bra when I never had to before ticks me off!! Then I use that anger to make me run faster :)

Those runs are always frustrating but usually the next one is better. Good job getting out there. You are looking gorgeous as always!

It's really true this Anne! We can't think how our run will be: a lot of factor such as meals, sleep, weather and concentration aren't always the same.
Last Wednesday, although the weather was sunny and perfect for running, I ran less than 5 km: I was mentally tired too.
Have a nice weekend Anne!

Don't you just love when your run turns out better than expected!
