Update...

"I will write [and run] myself into well-being."
Nancy Mairs

I decided to make a little modification to the above quotation :)

I saw the pulmonary specialist this morning. We did a test to see if there are oesinophils in my lungs. More than 2% of oesinophils (a type of white blood cell) signifies some inflammation is present. My count was at 40%...that is not a typo! So back on prednisone I go for 8 days. I'm okay with this though...it's been four months with none at all, so one week is not going to cause major side-effects and my lungs should be nice and clear when I'm done. I'm actually pleased about that part. Of course, I wish I didn't need this medication, that would be ideal, but that's not the way it is. Also, the candida is back and I must take Fluconasol for 21 days (plus pantoloc for the stomach, because of the side-effects of said meds). Finally, we are going to try a different puffer than Advair, which appears to be the cause of this recurrent fungus infection. Hopefully, it's the last time.
My grocery list of meds!
What does all this mean...it means that we're -7 days without prednisone, but that I'll be feeling great in a few days. I had a total of 122 days off prednisone, it's the longest since I went on daily prednisone about 4-5 years ago...so I'm happy with that and now I have a record to beat!

Yesterday, I still ran a 5K...just sayin' :)
Who says people with asthma can't run!

That's it for today...just wanted to update you.
I actually have the time to write this now, because my son and his girlfriend are cooking dinner for us this evening. How cool is that :)
Edit: They made General Tao chicken with all the fixings...it was delicious!

Have a great weekend everyone!
Cheers!

Hey - at least you will get things cleared up and will certainly be feeling much better. Way to go and run . . . even with lung issues.

Have a great weekend. T-8 and counting.

You are so positive. It's great. My son has asthma. There are tougher times than others for him as well. I hope you feel yourself soon!

Thanks for coming by today and commenting. I will take your words to heart, and move the clock to where I cannot see it.

Sad to read about your inflammation, but GO YOU for having a great attitude. And GO YOU for running the 5K. Hope you had a good time! (by that, I mean FUN) FYI, I've been struggling too, with the air quality/pollen. Anyway, swimming seems to help some. Our pool uses a salt water system that isn't too bad.

Way to go with the 5k. Prednisone isn't fun, but glad you are taking steps to reduce the inflammation.

You're doing great! And what a positive attitude... I have family that have bad asthma and they run, like you they find the good side and keep on running!

Love the fact that your son and his girlfriend made dinner! And I am also glad to see that, despite your need to get back on prednisone, that your postivie spirit and sunny disposition are going strong! Have a great weekend!

You are doing so well, one little blip of meds in the big picture is, well, one little blip.

I'm not going to tell you to take it easy because you won't! Just stay on course, if you need, slow up your pace while running, you'll not lose anything and have gained the distance.

Although you run 5 km, you have to keep hold of your training. It makes you feel good.
I'm looking forward to hearing your next test to see if inflammation is present again. You'll be well soon. :)

You are an inspiration. Thanks for following my blog...its an honor to follow yours. Keep the faith...asthma is a bigger challenge than most of us ever have to overcome.

Keep that silver-lining attitude and the week back on predisone will go much more quickly, especially if you can breathe well again. And, if you don't mind, send your General Tso leftovers my way...I love that dish, especially homecooked with love.

I've been following your posts and am truly inspired by your determination and positive attitude. I have asthma too. I haven't started my running program yet because of it, but hope to begin this week. I'm sorry to hear about this recent flare up. I hope you get better soon.
