"The notes I handle no better than many pianists. But the pauses between the notes - ah, that is where the art resides."
Arthur Schnabel
Today was hill repeats...
Newbie Anne (thinking): "Hmmm I have to do 3 hills today. I guess I'll have to do 4 because I'll be on the wrong side of the overpass and I won't be able to get back to my car."
Anne having an AHA moment: "OR, when I do my third hill, I can run up to the top of the overpass, turn around and come back the way I started...duh!" :)
Plus, although I'm still only 97% sure about this now...it was really not clear that 3 X 400m hills, meant 200m up and 200m down for a total hill. Right?
Asthma update for the interested:
The doctor only saw my test results on Monday (the nurse had given them to me on Friday) and he feels that the level of inflammation is such that I need to extend the prednisone treatment. So, instead of 30mg X 8 days...it is now 30mg X 10 days plus 15mg X 10 days. Plus, the inhalers have been changed again. I am taking a total of 18 puffs a day (3 X 3 puffs of Symbicort) and (3 X 3 puffs of Alvesco).
Let's just say that there's a reason I'm at the computer at 11pm, despite the fact that I work at 8:30am tomorrow morning. Although I just got back from yoga about 9:45, that is not why I am still bright eyed and bushy tailed. Both prednisone and the inhalers are stimulants...I'm feeling a little very agitated and sleep is not an option just yet. My hands are shaking like an addict who needs a fix!
It should calm down soon...but, I'm definitely more hyper when I'm on this much crap.
So, 14 more days of prednisone...then I'll be left with the inhalers.
Mom, I know you'll be reading this. Do not worry. I am feeling fine. This is just a short setback and I'm actually not feeling sick. I promise! If you read the first part you know that I ran hill repeats today :)
Cheers!

Great job on the hills!! Funny about you a-ha moment :) hope the meds do their thing and you're feeling better again soon!
I still don't get how to do hills, I think/hope I'm doing them right and I do them the same way. :)
Go hill repeats. and that's very sweet of you to leave a note for your mom. ;-)
Hill repeats during the short setback? You amaze me! I don't do hill repeats. Instead I do runs on very hilly routes. I suppose that makes me lazy, but it works for me.
Wow to the hill repeats. I am not good at those at all.
Hi Anne,
God, I hate hills!! They are so hard for me! Nice work there girl:) I am proud of you for being a champ and getting them done:) Have a wonderful day Anne!
Yay for the hill repeats! You rock!
I can only imagine how you feel after taking all those puffs.
I like the note for "Mom" at the end. :)
Glad you are getting taken care of... I hope you weren't kept u too late! I hate not being able to sleep.
Nice work on the hills!
Nice work on those hills! Good job dealing with you Asthma!
New here, but wanted to say nice job with hills and dealing with asthma. I've had asthma my whole life (I'm 27) but I have seen that when I'm more active I tend to have less probs with it. Good luck!
I certainly hope the asthma issue clears up - so you can do more hills!
much love to you, my dear friend. i'm glad to see that you are taking good care of yourself. did my hills last night. starting to dread wednesdays more than my sunday long runs...j'xx
I love the little note to your mom at the end!
Will you get used to the stimulating effect of prednisone or do you have to just wait the 14 days out? Hope you feel 100% better soon!
Awesome Hill workout. Hope your lungs are healing. That is what the medicine is for - you just need to let it do its work . . .
I remember that agitated state - after the chemotherapy, I always received a steroid, I think it was decadron. The result was that the day after chemo treatment - I would have a lot of energy - and had problems sleeping. I feel for you. It isn't a great feeling.
Hopefully the hill repeats and the running help with the side effects of the meds.
Ugh inhalers. I had the great idea to take a hit from mine before some of my spring evening runs. With a run and that it's like I'm all hopped up on Mountain Dew!
