A wonderful winter run with my niece...

"Even in winter an isolated patch of snow has a special quality."
Andy Goldsworthy

Last sunday, we headed out in this for our 10K...

Going by the Fort in loose snow...if you look closely, you can see my plastic bags sticking out of my running shoes :)

We are hardcore winter runners!

Wet hair and rosy cheeks...we did it!

Winter running is not easy, but it's definitely a good workout! This afternoon, I have 4 X 500m hill repeats planned, it is still snowing lightly and -8°C/17°F...but I'm up for it :)

For some reason, Christmas just creeped up on me this year. I'm always at the last minute, but this year is even worse than usual...I have absolutely nothing done yet. Someone will be shopping and baking this weekend! Thank goodness...we don't buy lots of gifts in our family and I only have my cinnamon rolls to bake, which is a Christmas tradition. I better get moving...have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers!

Running in the snow is exhausting (should count as cross-training too!) but so pretty and fun! Looks like a great run!

I know what you mean about Christmas! All of a sudden it's practically here, and I'm sooo not ready. Love the snowy pics!

I love snow running. Of course I only get to do it once a year if I am lucky! Kudos for getting out there!

Snowy running.... good for you! Christmas totally creeps. In my case I was feeling all ahead, all ahead and then suddenly it was like oh crap, where did all the time go and why do I still have so much to do? I think the earlier you start, the more you do... next year maybe I'll go back to procrastinating!

Haha! Jamoosh...I'll definitely consider that :)

Where is that fort? You get to run by that? Wow, all I get to run by is a polluted bayou...

Have a great weekend, Anne!

Weather looks similar to here. I love running in the winter - so fun that you are able to run with your neice. This is the first year in a couple of years that I have actually purchased presents and wrapped them. The last couple of years the ski trips were Christmas presents. Although my youngest will be skiing with me in January - I actually purchased a few presents for everyone. This weekend I plan on baking and decorating cut out cookies.
Make sure to relax and enjoy the season!

I have cinnamon rolls to bake too. Last year I made them for gifts instead of cookies. They were harder to eat myself than cookies. I couldn't start eating someone's rolls whereas a cookie or five or six missing wasn't noticed!

Congrats on getting out there. I have three words for you. Goretex running shoes! You just might need them this year.

It may be a tougher run, but your winter excursions are also quite beautiful.

Nice pics! You and your niece look so happy and healthy.
Winter running is the best, isn't it? So soft and quiet and peaceful.

Does your asthma act up in the winter? I have mild asthma and sometimes the first few miles in the cold leave me gasping, and not in a good way. Haven't had to use my inhaler (yet, knock on laptop) but I carry it with me. Sometimes it freezes in my pocket, lol!
P.S. I made holiday cookies yesterday and ate half the batch myself: Grrrrrr!

Wow! Love the pics and the snow! You've motivated me to suck it up and get out there and run in the cold. Thanks ... I think.
