I want to run!

"We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us."
Joseph Campbell

I do miss running...my foot is definitely getting better, but not run-ready yet. Seems I have an inflammed muscle that is squeezing a nerve in my foot (something like that). At least I can now go down the stairs without leaning on the handrail and I can walk with barely a perceptible limp. Still, I know I can't run yet. Everyday is better though, so maybe next week...I can't imagine it'll be much longer. Although, it feels like months, it's not even been three weeks. Funny how I lived 50 years of my life not running so obviously not missing it...then, I start running and one year later, I can't run for three weeks and it feels like forever. Just goes to show, how you never know :)

The good thing is that I've discovered biking, albeit on the cusp of winter...but, I've got that now and I'll have it to look forward to next summer. So, this week started off with a 20K bike ride yesterday, which made me smile. Also, I started my new workout. Marjorie (my trainer) came over Sunday and she put together a new program for me, that I can do in my very minimally equipped home gym. Today was the first day I completed the full workout. It's not too long, about forty minutes, so I'll be doing that twice a week. Plus, my Thursday night yoga has started again.

I can't wait to add running to my schedule again...did I mention that already :)

Cheers!

It's so hard when we have to take time off for an injury. I had the longest.summer.ever unable to run for 3 months. But you'll really appreciate it when you can get out there again. Trust me on that. :-)

Hopefully you'll be back at running again soon, but for now it sounds like you are having fun with the biking... get it in before the ice and snow!!

Isn't that nice to have a private coach...I would really like that to. I think that «Frida» is very pretty. You are amazing sis!

Between the home gym workout and biking, hopefully you'll hang on to your sanity while not running. It's tough, I know!

Give it time and don't risk a bigger injury! :) I'm sure you miss it terribly. So sorry!
However, biking is AWESOME!! Good for you!

I hope you feel better soon. I know how you feel. It sucks, but running will be bittersweet when you come back to it.

Anne, you're awesome. I always love your ability to keep things in perspective. I really need to take a card from you not just on the blog, but on the run, at work, with my wifey.

Thank you!

Sounds like a plan to me! Keep up the great attitude!

It's all such a question of perspective, isn't it? I saw an older neighbor of ours who has recently begun walking with a cane and I think how hard it must be for him to accept his reduced mobility...I hope I can be as graceful about it as you are when it inevitably happens to me.

I hear you! i seem to move two steps forward with a step back. Don't know why it certainly isn't from running. Meanwhile the biking continues and allllllllllllll the stretching I am doing. Enjoy that bike!

Glad you are enjoying biking. I biked to work yesterday and plan on doing a 35 mile ride this weekend. I enjoy it a lot and it is great cross training.

You will run . . . soon!

I love how busy you are even WITHOUT running. Your body will respond well because you take such great care of it.
Keep up the biking, it's a good complement to running because you get to cover alot of distance in a short amount of time, and you can take a rest and still keep moving :-)

Riding during the fall foliage peak can be almost as refreshing as running through it. Almost. You'll be back before you know it. Stay patient.
