THIS is what I woke up to this morning!
It has been snowing ALL day...unbelievable. Yet, I should not be surprised, this happens every year! Well, maybe not this close to May, but there's always one last snowstorm just when we think winter is really over.
Okay, so the plan today was to go to the gym, do my workout and then go do my hills. After putzing around for a little longer than necessary, I head for the gym. I'm actually feeling good, I like my new training program. First, the jumps...five high jumps and five long jumps. After the second long jump I feel a pull a very light pain in my abdominals on the right side. I figure I must not have been standing straight, but I don't think much of it. Get back on the step, jump down and jump across...OUCH! I actually turned a few heads at the gym. Last week, I did lots of abdominals and it seems I may have been slightly vulnerable. So, I think I may have pulled my right abdominal muscle. The pain is not that bad as long as I'm not doing any core work...I was unable to do my plank or situps and everytime I had to get up off the floor, ouch. Okay, moving on. I did all the other exercises and hoped that it wouldn't hurt when I ran. Because, YES, I did 8 X 500m hills in the wind and freaking snow! Those were the last hills on my program before my half-marathon and I was not pushing it off to another day. Bring on the fartlek...I'm ready!

Wanted to show you MY hill...although this picture doesn't do it justice.
Post-run...and proud :)
As for the ab muscle, I may skip yoga and gym this week...hopefully, it'll heal quickly.
Cheers!

That picture looks pretty darn hilly! Good for you and darn the snow.
What's up with the snow? Bunch of crap!
Way to go on those hills lady....HARDCORE!
Yikes! We just had some flurries today...nothing really stuck. Way to rock the hill!
Way to go - hope your ab's are feeling better. That is probably a good idea to give those muscles a little break.
While we aren't getting snow in Wisconsin - we do have a frost advisory for this evening. burrrrr!
Enjoy each run.
Snow?!? I seriously would have gone back to bed. Good for you for getting out there and tackling the hills! Isn't it crazy how hills never look as hilly as they truly are in pictures (or when you are driving them in a car)?
You look pretty good after just running hills in the wind and snow! I hope your ab muscle heals quickly.
Thanks for your comment, it gave me a chuckle.
Holy crapoly....snow...seriously? Well that just sucks:) You look great even after a hill workout in the snow! I think that it is so smart to get those hill workouts in...they will help you more than you know! You are so ready runner girl:)
wow...hills, wind and snow. I love the feeling after those kind of workouts! good work.
Oh my goodness on all of that snow. Looks gorgeous though!
You should be proud, well done! Photos never do hills justice. You are amazing!
What a contrast-pictures of you running on a beach and snow! The hills look...well, hilly! Great job getting your workouts completed. I'll send some New England sunshine your way.
This is Al Gore's fault! The snow and your strained abs.
Yesterday was awful!!! I can't believe there is actual accumulation, I was trying to console myself by saying the stuff will just melt as soon as it hits the ground but...IT'S STILL THERE!!
I'm so proud of you for finishing your hills and can't help but think back to that day several years ago when we met for lunch and you had such a hard time walking, even slowly, up the hill back to McGill. Now you are running up and down snowy hills....it's fantastic. You should be wearing the WW t-shirt today :) My last hills session today and yes, bring on the fartlek (I still think it sounds dirty...). Love you! j'xx
Sorry about the snow and the ab strain!
Snow + hills = very hardcore! WTG!
Great job getting out there in those conditions. I think I would have wanted to curl up in bed instead!
I suppose a sudden snow storm this late in the year is treated a little differently since you know it will melt away much sooner than if it were February, right? We have had unusual weather here too. I love it.
Great job on the workouts! I don't know if I could handle snow right now...
Photos never do the hills justice but it looks pretty significant to me!
Oh the snow at this time of year! I think I would have crawled back in bed. Good for you. Hope the abs heal up quickly.
WOW i cannot imagine running in snow like that STILL!!! its almost may! great job :)
I can sympathize, that's the way it is in Colorado too. The rest of the world with be in shorts and t-shirts in May and we'll be bundled up. Heck I've seen it snow in June out here!
Your header and you post today are complete opposites! I so do not want any more snow for a long time!
Awesome getting your workout in with the yucky conditions. But I bet you feel a extra bit a pride having done it. And you should! :-)
You're a month late for April fools! Snow? No WAY! You need to move to GA, girl! And great job on the workout!
Laura
Way to go with the hill workout in the snow! I hope the ab muscle feels better soon!
Yucky snow!
Oh ouch! I have never heard of a pain like that :( Hope you feel better soon!
Eww. Snow.
The snow looks really pretty! But I totally hate it when you think winters gone and it reappears again! Annoying!
What a champ running in that. You'd probably find me hiding in the closet!
P.S. I love your header Pic!
I TOTALLY get that hill !!! You rock ! ...oh yea...and keep that damn snow by you !!! ;)
The snow is beautiful, but really??? Glad to be in Orlando.... :)
Take care of that ab muscle, friend!
HUGS!
You really are a special lady...and a tough runner. Thanks for all you do to keep us sane and moving forward :) !
Oh my snow! Now if it was a first snow in November I might think it was pretty but snow in April! I think I would have gone back to bed too. There is something not right about having to pull out hats and gloves in the spring! :) Good for you!
Yikes! Be careful with the snow and your body! Cheers!
YES! Hope you heal up fast... and yay for being done with the hills!
That is the last snow of the season! I hope that you will see a nice spring soon :)
Have a nice training!
Thank-you for your comments on my blog. Those words really meant a lot to me. Nice of you to help put things into perspective for me :-)
