Boston...and not Boston :)

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face...You must do the thing you cannot do."
Eleanor Roosevelt

First, I would like to wish Good Luck to all of you who are going to Boston...particularly to Meg, Jill & Marcia...have a great time and hopefully, a great "time" ;)
Not Boston: If you had told me 10 weeks ago, that I would be running 7K non-stop as a middle of the week easy run, I would have seriously doubted you. At first, when I would look at my Running Room program, I really wondered if I would be able to follow along. Today, I am amazed at how well this program is working for me. Every new challenge I attempt, I feel ready for. This week was 6 X 500m hills...no problemo. Heartrate remained controlled with a max of 154...and no pain. I totally did it! Then tonight, a 7K steady run, which I completed at a 6.35min/K pace...and I know I could have kept going. Granted, I'm always near or at the back of the pack, but I'm faster than everyone who dropped out :) ...and everytime there was a red light, I would catch up with the middle pack...so I wasn't that far behind. That's what I find most helpful about running with this group...it forces me to push myself a little more than I would on my own...but, not so much that I'm doing tempo runs. Plus, everyone is so nice. I will just mention that I'm still feeling the post-prednisone fatigue, but it isn't stopping me from getting all my runs in and some cross training. I am feeling strong and I love it!

So, what do I know now? I know that I have what it takes to complete my half-marathon...AND I believe I will be able to complete a marathon one day. Perhaps sooner than I first thought. When I first started running, I was far from convinced that I would one day be able to complete a marathon...I don't think that anymore!

One step at a time...First, a 10K in three weeks!
Cheers!

Running groups are awesome like that! Even though I sometimes complain about mine I know that I would never be where I am now without them.

Step by step you will reach all your goals and I am sure that the 2010 will be the year of the first marathon. 6 repeats on the hill are a very good job, congrats!

Personally, I find that is the most gratifying thing about running - the way you see yourself improve as you keep at it. So glad it's going well for you!

Hi Anne,
You are doing so well with your trainings and runs! You watch and see how good you will do with that 10k! If you continue to train like you are...that half marathon will be so doable:) I agree with Anne Marie....marathon is going on the to do list!! I am so happy for you:)

Hey, look at it this way...a marathon is "only" a half marathon x2! You WILL run a marathon some day, and swear you'll never do it again. But you will...LOL. Great job with your training..

ROCK STAR! You are awesome! I remember that feeling too, when I looked at my first Half Marathon training plan and thought: No. Way. I felt that way about my Marathon training plan too, I might add, but now, I know that the human body is SO much more capable than we think, and I KNOW you're going to keep kicking booty.

And I'm SUPER Psyched about your upcoming 10K. I love the 10K distance. If you have an opportunity to run a 15K as a training race for the Half, it's a really good training distance too.

It's amazing what we do after we told ourselves WE WOULD NEVER DO THAT!!! After my first half I swore I would never do a full, a half was enough...a year later exactly I will be running my 1st full.

It's exciting what you can do when you put your mind to it...and train. So exciting. CAn't wait to hear about your first 10k.

The first stage of making a change (I believe) is thinking about it. That you are thinking of training for a marathon is step 1.

You'll know when you are ready. You're going to do great in your upcoming half!
