The news is good...

“You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call 'failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down.”
Mary Pickford

This morning, I ran 4K doing 1/1 intervals and I was feeling good. I was enjoying my run for the first time in a while now and it was niiiiiice. The foot is not 100%, but my PT says it's about 90%...I'll take it! After my run, I had PT and it went really well great. Joseph feels that there should be no problem completing my 10K in two weeks in Niagara Falls...yay. Of course, now that I'm a runner, I did what any self-respecting runner would do, I asked him if he thought I could run the half-marathon. Joseph's answer: "I don't think so...you risk injuring yourself once again." Me: "hmmmm ooookaaay" Joseph...with a smile: "You can do it if you want, it's up to you. It's not going to hurt MY foot." Me (grin): "You're right, I know". Then he massaged the foot, not as painful today, and had me do a few balance exercises and then onto the treadmill. It went extremely smoothly...so I'm allowed to run 6 and 8Ks this week and I see Joseph, hopefully for the last time, next Friday.

I mentioned to Joseph that I want to get a trainer for my bike (to cross train inside while watching tv) and he suggested I get a back tire specifically for rollers (the back part of the trainer)...he was saying that otherwise, I risk ruining my road tire. I'm just saying...in case someone else didn't know about this :) I'll be checking this out, if you have any advice, I'd really appreciate it...just remember that I am not a triathlete, I just want to be able to cross train and avoid injury.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE RUNNING IN CHICAGO THIS SUNDAY!
Cheers!

Very glad to see you're still heading in the right direction with your foot. Hopefully the healing continues!

That is good news! I've always wanted to do a 10K run... it seems like such a nice, fun distance to run.

That's great news that you'll be able to do your 10K! So excited for you! Sorry 'bout the half, but hey, at least you can run a little bit, much better then no running at all!

I have a bike trainer that has a fly wheel (I think mine is called Fluid). They are a little bit more expensive then the rollers, but you can use your own tire and they are a lot better to "ride" on!

At least, soon Joseph won't be able to stand the way of your HM. But I know you'll do what's best for your mind and body.
Shame, now I probably know why my NEW rear tire wore out so quickly...
I have this trainer: Blackburn Trakstand Fluid.
Expensive, works for me, but I would not recommend it. I have to stop every 15 minutes to tighten the resistance. A welcome rest, but not good for training.
And, 2 weeks til your 10K? Oh, you'll be so ready for it. Very exciting.

I'd take the 90% too!:) Sounds like you're getting better and that's great news about the 10K. BTW, I love that Pickford quote, thanks for sharing!

That's great that your foot is better! Good advice about the tire. If the tire already has a couple season's wear on it, you can use that through the winter and make it your trainer tire, then buy a new tire for the road in the spring. Have fun!

Wonderful news that you are on the super highway to recovery. Glad you are back to running and can now get ready for the 10k . . . which is what I am heading out to do right now.
