“Exercise gives you endorphins--endorphins make people happy and happy people just don't shoot their husbands... they just don't.”
Legally Blonde
That quote made me giggle. Okay then...Finally, today I enjoyed a little endorphin rush...no, I didn't run, but I borrowed my niece's bike and went for a ride. I did 11K and I LOVED it! Thanks so much for lending me your bike O. It was so much more fun than going nowhere on a spin bike at the gym. Not that I didn't enjoy my spin class last year...but this does not compare. I was out on the bike path and the sun had forced itself through the clouds and it was so good! Thanks for the motivation to try biking again ajh :)
Something I learned today. I think I know why many runners enjoy biking to crosstrain. The few times I biked as an adult, I never really enjoyed it. It was tiring and not fun. I used to blame it on the fact that my bikes were old, but my niece's bike is...well, let's just say it probably used to belong to her uncle or her dad. So that wasn't it...The difference is that today, I got out there and realized that my legs and cardio are in great shape from running...I wasn't out of breath before I even reached the end of the street. I totally enjoyed myself, I felt good and I know I was smiling as I was pedaling.
If it was such fun with an old bike, that has a crooked front wheel (not that I'm complaining)...how freaking amazing must it be to ride a newish bike! You've got to know I'll be visiting a certain store tomorrow...
My foot is feeling much better (but not all better) and I hope to be able to start run/walking by next week...and I'm sure you can guess how I plan to compensate for the low running mileage ;)
Cheers!

I haven't biked in years, but I bet it felt good. The shape you're in now from running it would be like biking when you were a kid... just plain fun!
I mean do TO improve your fitness.
I exercise mostly for the endorphins.
It's crazy what running can do you improve your fitness huh??? I've noticed that crunches have actually become easier since running.
Hi;)
love the quote;-)
and if you get a road bike...biking will greatly complement/improve your running. it has for me and it's a great xtraining. and not so much from doing a power/strength bike ride...but from applying your running cadence to spin cadence.
you got a giggle out of me too. that's one of my favorite go to movies... it's amazing how running affects how well you do in other things. glad to hear you'll be attempting to get some miles in next week! yay! take em slow... :)
Awesome ride! Enjoy!
Woohoo, that's so fun!!!!! Sounds like it's exactly what the soul needed!!! So glad, too, your foot is feeling better :).
The problem with a new bike is all those gears! I just don't know how to use them. But I agree - cycling can be a whole heap of fun.
Your post made me smile! Hope you get a new bike! I am going to bike to work today. Because I can!
Yay for biking!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
My road bike is my best friend and my number 1 cross training partner. Even in the winter I put it up on the trainer, pop in a DVD and ride for an hour or so. Keeping my fingers crossed that the foot keeps mending well!
Glad you are enjoying the bike. I was going to take a rest day but you've inspired me to ride. Glad the foot is feeling good!
Hi Anne,
Finding a bike is harder than you would think! I am still searching but will not settle for anything less than perfection:) When I get on all of these different bikes and take test rides it makes me feel like a little girl again! Good luck with the bike shopping!
I hope your foot continues to feel better! Take care!
Boy, there is a lot of biking going on on runner blogs lately! Get yourself a really good bike - you won't be sorry.
that's great your foot is starting to feel better!!! I love, love love that movie, and quote!!!
I love a good bike ride. Breeze against my cheeks - if only I could run as fast I bike!
I'm glad your foot is feeling better. Have fun cycling!
That is great! This will help you stay in shape and also keep you positive. Hope you get a nice bike, you deserve it!
So glad you got to get outside and enjoy it. That will really help make the time off running pass faster.
So many runners are discovering the joy of riding, and it definitely has me intrigued. I have a new bike in my garage and really should be riding it!
I love the bike [well cycle] one day I'll be a big girl and buy a bike.
AND THAT QUOTE.....
....Love it. Probably no surprise that's one of my favorite movies. ;)
Classic quote...Riding a bike is so much different to me. I live where hills are everywhere and biking makes you pay a lot of attention to them!
I'm glad you are enjoying the bike and improving your strenght! And now, after biking and running you'll go swimming :)
Happy training Anne!
